For Grade 2, students would be required to play most scales both hands. The transition from playing separate hands to both hands scales is not easy, especially for young children. They need a lot of reinforcement to remember the fingering and the coordination between hands. Thus it is advisable for parents to learn so that they can guide their children at home.
Arpeggios would still be played separate hands, but in 2 octaves. Young students have problem transitioning from 1 octave to 2 octaves arpeggios and may need more guidance at home.
